Versatile Guitar tutor of all styles based in Wimbledon!
Hello there! I’m Brad and I’m Guitar teacher based in South West London, but I’m originally from Lancashire. I offer tuition in Classical, Electric and Acoustic Guitar, as well as Ukulele and Mandolin as well as preparation for Music Theory examinations.
I have a wide range of teaching experience, with a plethora of ages and levels. My current work ranges from Ukulele lessons for young children, teaching Acoustic and Electric Guitar to working professionals in the City of London for the company ‘Music in Offices’, preparing school age children for ABRSM graded examinations (Practical and Theory) and teaching Classical Guitar for the BMus (Hons) course at King’s College London.
Do feel free to get in touch, and I look forward to hearing from you! Since the beginning of my studies, I began representing the RNCM in both solo and with chamber ensembles – performing at venues such as the Bridgewater Hall, Liverpool University, Leeds College of Music, Buxton Festival as well as participating in masterclasses with artists and teachers such as Zoran Dukic, Ricardo Gallen, Jose Antonio Escobar, Elena Papandreou and Gordon Crosskey.
In 2015, I was awarded First Prize for the Ivor Mairants Guitar Award, which led to a performance representing the Worshipful Company of Musicians in the International Guitar Research Conference at the University of Surrey the following year. Soon after, this led to a placement onto the European Guitar Teacher’s Association’s (EGTA) ‘Young Performer’s Platform’. In 2017, I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with First Class Honours.
Later in the same year, I began my studies at the Royal Academy of Music after being awarded scholarships to study with Professor Michael Lewin. During this time, I gave solo performances for the 400+ Series, Tuesday and Thursday Series, as well as receiving guidance from David Russell and Fabio Zanon and coaching from Professor Stephen Goss and Timothy Walker. I also performed twice for the Assad Brothers, David Leisner as well as Early Music specialists, Nigel North and Elizabeth Kenny.
I graduated from the Academy with an MA with Distinction, the DipRAM (the highest performance award conferred by the Academy) and First Prize in the inaugural Royal Classics Concerto Competition in 2019. He has also recently completed an Advanced Diploma, which included première recordings by Gary Carpenter, David Gorton and Philip Cashian for the Royal Academy of Music’s Bicentenary that are scheduled for release in 2022. Similar projects include collaboration with internationally respected composer, Georg Friedrich Haas in 2019, where Bradley performed his ‘Quartett’ with colleagues from the RAM.
I have also been involved with the International Guitar Research Centre; I was invited to perform at the Centenary celebrations of Reginald Smith-Brindle in 2017, where I performed solo works along with rare Guitar Duos with Professor Steven Thachuk from California State University – their first performance since their premières by Julian Bream and John Williams in the 1980s.
Alongside solo performance, I have performed with Academy Symphony Orchestra under Edward Gardner and Robert Trevino, Manson Ensemble and Royal Academy Opera.
Since 2018, I have been a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians and have represented the company in concerts throughout the country. I received numerous scholarships for his studies, including a Special Commendation from the Boise Foundation Scholarship Trust, being twice awarded the Blyth Watson Charitable Trust Award and the Charlotte Fraser Award.
Aside from performing, I am also also a dedicated teacher. I started teaching Classical Guitar at King’s College London in 2019, after being awarded in Academy’s teaching diploma (‘Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music’) with Distinction in 2020.
