Over 1O years teaching musicality and self expression
I have performed and studied Music for 24 years and been teaching for 10. I have a Masters degree from SOAS, University of London, in Music and Development and an undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Leeds, graduating with honours and specialising in Performance, Composition & Pedagogy.
I have also been awarded Grade 8 (Distinction) in Guitar (London College of Music) and Grade 5 Music Theory (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). I have performed professionally as a soloist and in ensembles spanning a range of styles, including pop, rock, jazz, blues, soul, and a variety of folk musics from europe and south america. I have toured at a national level at nightclubs, music venues, arts spaces, bars and private functions. I have also sung in a variety of choirs and have played drums for 15 years. I currently teach at Blackheath Conservatoire and from my home studio in Brockley. Whilst in leeds I taught at the Yorkshire Music Education Service and in collaboration with ArtForms. I have over 10 years of consistent teaching experince, where I have taught a wide range of abitilies, from complete beginners to professionals; learning repertoire for concerts, entry auditions, exam grades and musical theatre compositions. I have taught a wide range of students in & around the city across a range of different styles, tailoring my teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students.
